JEMS 4A Unit Specific Training
(Available on any aerial device, service body only units and pickups.)
Two-day course, (16 hours)
The JEMS 4A is a mild hybrid system that utilizes lithium ion battery technology and the ZeroRPM Idle Mitigation System (IMS) for engine-off operations. The system uses stored electrical energy to power chassiss loads and provide engine-off cab comfort heating and cooling. The energy storage system is recharged by plugging into shore power or by the truck’s internal combustion engine.
Overview
This course is intended to provide technicians with an understanding of the fundamental operational principles on the JEMS 4A mild hybrid system. The course includes hands-on exercises in diagnosis and repairs of the JEMS 4A hybrid system. Various tools are used along with schematics to test system and component functionality. After completing the course, trainees should have a better understanding of the electrical and hydraulic components used in the hybrid system and be better able to test and diagnose the system as needed.
