Altec is proud to announce that the AC40E-152S telescopic boom truck crane will make its return as a displayed piece of Altec equipment at booth F44042 at ConExpo 2026. When configured for aerial operation, it is one of Altec’s highest-reaching aerial devices.

The LLEAP-Award-winning AC40E includes a patented Dual Entry Cab that provides safe access throughout the superstructure’s entire range of rotation. The optional 20° tilt feature delivers a clear view overhead. As with all Altec products, the AC40E is backed by the industry’s leading national support network and warranty protection.

As a material hoisting device, this machine features a maximum capacity of 80,000 pounds and is equipped with a six-section main boom with 152 feet of maximum extended length. As an A92.2 aerial device, the AC40E features a 1,200 pound-capacity platform and a maximum working height of 222 feet. The dual rating minimizes setup time and the amount of equipment needed on a project.

In addition, the AC40E’s patented, quick-attach platform reduces installation time with a lightweight bracket that secures to the main boom, the end of the jib or the optional composite reach extension. Once the bracket is attached to any of those locations, the operator can simply extend the boom until the bracket engages the platform. Longer outrigger cylinders allow easy setup on uneven terrain, reduce the amount of cribbing needed, minimize setup time and enable more payload space on the truck.

For the first time at ConExpo, Altec will also exhibit Altec Teupen equipment. The industry-leading solution for small set-up areas, Altec Teupen products are able to traverse steep grades and rough terrain. Each machine is built with unparalleled safety and reliability and backed by Altec’s nationwide service network.

Altec will display the Altec Teupen TL127AJplus, a spider lift that features a 127-foot articulating and telescopic boom and an 882-pound platform capacity. This unit offers rapid point to point access for the most difficult to reach applications. Additionally, the Altec Teupen TC89AJplus will be displayed. This spider lift represents the next generation of standard features for future Altec Teupen models. It features an 89-foot articulating and telescopic boom with a newly designed high performance boom system that provides smooth boom operation and stability aloft.

In addition to the AC65E and Altec Teupen units, Altec’s HD35A-12 pressure digger, AT41M articulating telescopic aerial device, MudDog Hydrovac 1200 Vacuum Excavator and CB5-132D-S mechanic’s truck will also be displayed at ConExpo.

Altec Showcases Newly Redesigned Service Crane with Fiberglass Body at Work Truck Week® 2025

Birmingham, Ala., March 1, 2025 — Altec Inc. is excited to unveil its newly redesigned service crane with a 6,000-lb capacity at Work Truck Week® 2025. Featuring an innovative fiberglass body, this advanced unit delivers unmatched performance, durability and efficiency for operators across the work truck industry.

The fiberglass body’s lightweight design offers up to an 1,100-lb payload increase on average compared to steel bodies, along with enhanced corrosion resistance, reduced maintenance, and fuel savings. Extensive storage includes 53-inch tall by 23-inch deep compartments, full-width shelving, and lockable dividers, providing operators with the space they need to maximize productivity.

Customers using the redesigned service crane have noted a significant transformation in their operations. One customer shared, “The increased payload allows us to carry more tools and materials, complete multiple jobs in a single trip and avoid downtime from returning to the shop.”

Exclusive Altec Advantage
The benefits of fiberglass are so compelling that Altec has transitioned its entire fleet of mobile service vehicles to this design. Altec technicians across the United States rely on this lightweight, durable solution to efficiently serve customers in diverse industries.

“Our newly redesigned service crane reflects Altec’s dedication to innovation and meeting customer needs,” said Justin Chandler, Altec sales manager. “With increased payload, secure storage, and enhanced handling, it’s a versatile solution for today’s demanding work environments.”

EVs, Telematics and More: Key Takeaways from EUFMC 2024

With a small beginning in 1953 as a regional gathering of fleet managers, Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference is now regarded as an essential opportunity for learning and growing for fleet professionals, manufacturers, suppliers and service providers alike. Below, check out three key takeaways from this year’s event and see how Altec is supporting customers as they navigate these industry trends.

Although there are still obstacles for fleet electrification, momentum toward more EVs continues to grow.

While the charging infrastructure and cost of EVs can be obstacles for fleet electrification, the market is still showing a desire for the product, whether driven by legislative initiatives or customer sustainability goals.

It’s important to plan for future purchases now, especially as legislation is adopted in some areas that requires a percentage of chassis sold by OEMs to be electric. Altec is working with customers to understand those timelines and purchasing requirements.

From an engineering perspective, Altec is working with OEMs to make sure the electrification solutions it offers provide customers with the high-quality products they expect. Altec’s EV solutions offer an integrated battery system that powers both the chassis and equipment, making it familiar and easy for operators to use. Altec is also targeting specific applications that allow batteries to be the right size for the job, providing sufficient range while reducing size to free up valuable payload.

While some customers may have range anxiety, targeting specific applications allows crews to work confidently within the range of a truck. On average, only 10 percent of a truck’s range is used at the jobsite, and audible range alerts can be configured at various levels to keep operators informed of the state of charge.

Telematics and data solutions are increasingly more valuable and important to customers.

There are many aspects that make data solutions appealing to customers—fleet efficiency and safety, to name just a few. These products allow customers to know their equipment is ready to work and they have the right operators on the right equipment for the right job.

Altec’s two newest telematic solutions, Op-Ready and Altec Insights, offer customers a valuable picture of their fleet. Op-Ready is a digital report that combines data from telematics and Altec equipment to identify assets that are at risk of going down. With this report, customers can address issues today to prevent downtime tomorrow. Reports are customizable to allow users to receive the information they need relative to their jobs.

Altec Insights is a powerful tool for understanding equipment safety and performance. Insights are created using data and Altec expertise, and the result is simple and actionable information designed to help answer essential questions and reduce downtime. To improve safety, Insights allows customers to receive an alert if safety systems are activated so they can asses whether the equipment is right for the job, or if operators might need safety guidance.

There is a continued focus on products and solutions that improve safety in the industry.

The importance of safety in the industry cannot be overstated, and customers are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve operator safety on the job. While some of those safety solutions are based on telematics, such as Altec Insights, product design is also playing a key role in safety improvements.

For example, Altec’s AA55E is designed with extended side reach. This extended reach can help operators reach their work area without as much repositioning and allow them to set up further way from traffic. The platform can also reach the ground in the non-over center boom position, making it easy to enter and transfer material into the platform.

Another key safety innovation in recent years is Altec’s lanyard interlock system, which has been well received by the industry. Given this customer feedback, Altec is working to add the system to additional aerial devices.

Utility Expo 2023 Reaches New Heights

The end of September saw another successful Utility Expo. This show occurs every two years in Louisville, Kentucky, and welcomes utility professionals, construction contractors and others looking to learn more about the latest industry innovations, technologies and trends.

This year’s Expo saw a record setting 21,000+ in attendance from all 50 states and 60 countries.

Altec once again welcomed customers to its large lot with a freestanding structure to learn more about the wide range of equipment and solutions we provide to the utility industry. This year, Altec’s primary focus was on the electrification solutions offered by Altec Green Fleet, as well as digital fleet services solutions, including Altec Insights. Customers also met with representatives from Altec Capital, NUECO, Fleet Services, Global Rental, Altec Limited, Altec Supply, Altec Worldwide, Sentry and JJ Kane.

Each evening, Altec hosted customer appreciation events where customers enjoyed dinner, refreshments and special presentations, including a tribute video for the late Lee Styslinger, Jr., and a music video for Keep the Lights On, a song dedicated to lineman.

“We look forward to Utility Expo every two years because it not only gives us an opportunity to connect with our customers, but also to show our appreciation for the work they do,” said Tony Gann, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “This year’s record-setting show was the best yet, and we look forward to seeing you in 2025.”

The next Utility Expo will be held Oct. 7-9, 2025, in Louisville. See you there!

Altec to Feature Latest in Fleet Innovation at Utility Expo

Altec will display its latest innovations in fleet electrification and equipment connectivity at this year’s Utility Expo set for Sept. 26-28 in Louisville, Kentucky. A leading provider of products and services to the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, and lights and signs markets, Altec helps customers reach higher in more than 100 countries around the world.

A wide range of Altec equipment will also be on display at the Expo, including the AC65, the Company’s newest dual-rated boom truck crane; the TS40H-4P, the newest addition to Altec’s lineup of cable handling equipment; and several all-electric and JEMS outfitted trucks.

Experience the Latest in Fleet Electrification

At this year’s show, Altec will feature equipment from its lineup of all-electric bucket trucks. All-electric bucket truck solutions are zero-emissions whether driving to or working at the jobsite. The fully integrated ePTO and powertrain allow all components to work as a system powered by a single battery. The solutions utilize the same Altec operator interface customers are used to. Charging is straight forward with a single charging port, and all trucks include a state of charge alert that is visible from the ground and from the platform.

Altec’s all-electric models are designed for use in specific applications that maximize the use of the EV. Aerial models available include the TA60 and AA/AN 55’ mounted on chassis from leading OEMs. Altec will continue to expand available aerial models and chassis offered.

In addition to all-electric bucket trucks, Altec will also display equipment outfitted with its Jobsite Energy Management System. When activated, JEMS supports a zero-emission jobsite, eliminating unnecessary engine idling by providing lithium-ion battery power to the ePTO and jobsite tools, as well as cab comfort features. This leads to a safer and quieter jobsite, reduced emissions, and lower fuel and maintenance costs.

Streamline Fleet Management with the Latest in Digital Products

Technology’s role in fleet management continues to evolve. Altec is committed to purposely innovating products that our customers need to operate more safely and efficiently. Digital product offerings allow users more insight into their fleets than ever before, offering insights and analytics based on performance and safety data gathered from chassis and equipment.

Launched this year, Altec Insights is the company’s newest digital complement and is a powerful tool for understanding equipment safety and performance. Next generation equipment with advanced control systems provides data about how equipment is being used—but data alone is not enough. By combining raw data and Altec expertise, Altec Insights provides simple and actionable information designed to help answer essential questions, enhance jobsite safety and reduce downtime.

Experience the Total Altec Value

In addition to new equipment, Altec offers a variety of solutions to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their equipment. Representatives from all of Altec’s business units will be onsite during the show to help customers find the best solutions for their unique needs.
