May the Best #Beardo Win

Beard Contest WinnerIn December, Altec began their search for the hard-hat-wearing worker with the best beard. Conveniently, many participants were already growing out their beards for “No Shave November,” while others began to grow their beards right away in hopes of winning a prize. To enter, contestants had to upload the best photograph of their beard and hope for the best. The Top 10 contestants received a T-shirt and hard hat sticker, while the winner received a Yeti Cooler.

So, who was the #Beardo that started 2018 with a new Yeti Cooler?

Judson Fisher, a resident of Appleton, Wisconsin and employee of TLC Sign, is the winner of our Beardo competition. We sat down with Judson to ask him some questions about his life and first place beard.

Q: Where do you work?

A: I’ve worked for TLC Sign, a family owned company, for about a year and a half. I started as a service technician and installer and am now the operations manager. I am familiar with the Altec products that we have in our fleet; they serve us very well and are adaptive for the type of business that we are in. I also run my own business where I remodel and flip homes.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: Before children I was a huge soccer player. I have friends who play professionally and I played in college. Now I have 4 kids so a lot of my time is spent with them. I’ve also learned how to hunt and fish since I moved to Wisconsin a few years ago. My wife is an avid hunter and has a bigger buck on the wall than I do.

Q: How do you maintain your beard?

A:  I’ve been growing my beard for about 5 years now. Believe it or not, my wife makes all of my beard products herself, including my beard oil and beard balm. Typically, I wash and condition it every two to three days. After washing my beard, I comb it and apply my homemade products.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve gotten stuck in your beard?

A: My 5-year-old likes to hide his Legos in it.

Q: How often do people ask to touch your beard?

A: Many people ask to touch my beard. Surprisingly I get more compliments from men than I do women.

Congratulations to Judson and thank you to all who entered our Beardo competition!
