Preventive Maintenance

Altec offers a fully comprehensive preventive maintenance inspection to ensure your unit is in work-ready shape all year long. ANSI and OSHA regulations require your unit to be maintained to the manufacturers’ specifications, so the best place to start is the manufacturer from which your unit came from—Altec.

Altec’s 12-month preventive maintenance inspection is a complete factory-specified service performed by one of Altec’s certified maintenance technicians. This inspection covers every point on the unit including filters, lubrication and critical fastener torque procedures, as well as a visual inspection for cracks and general wear and tear. The technician will also perform an operational calibration testing and adjustment to check for unit ease of operation and correct speed.

Altec has the largest fleet of service trucks in the industry, so wherever your location, we have a truck on the ground that’s ready to service your unit. Altec Service keeps an electronic record of your service dates and specific details of your truck’s maintenance.

Annual equipment inspections are legally required to meet safety standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Altec offers the best and most comprehensive preventive maintenance inspections for your equipment.

Altec preventative maintenance inspection benefits:

  • Because we designed and built the equipment, Altec knows the product best. Altec uses manufacturer specific and model specific checklists to perform inspections in lieu of generic checklists that could cover a wide range of products.
  • To ensure consistent quality, Altec changes filters and lubricates components as outlined in the maintenance manual.
  • Altec specifically checks the critical fastener torque as defined in the maintenance manual with a torque wrench to confirm load holding integrity.
  • ANSI requires the equipment to be operated during the inspection. As an additional check, Altec tests all unit functions, including speeds, hydraulic pressure and flow, overload protection and performance related operations. Adjustments are made as necessary to meet factory-specific parameters.
  • Altec stocks commonly used components in our service centers and Mobile Service Technician Trucks to help improve uptime and minimize delays associated with addressing issues found during an inspection.
