I am currently connected to an Altec unit and signed in with my AXIS Service Interface but need assistance programming the unit. Who can I contact?

How do I connect my device (computer, phone, tablet) to the AXIS Service Interface and navigate to the AXIS log in page?

- Power your AXIS. You can plug AXIS into a truck or into the supplied wall power outlet.
- Connect your device (phone, laptop, or tablet) to the AXIS Wi-Fi network. The network name and password are on a sticker on the back of your AXIS.
- Open an internet browser (preferably Google Chrome) and go to the AXIS homepage. If it doesn’t automatically go to the AXIS homepage, you can enter altec.com in the address bar. You should receive a redirect page that tells you that you are not connected to the internet and asks if you would like to go to the AXIS homepage. Click “Open AXIS Homepage”. If you’re using an iOS device, type the AXIS tool’s local IP address 192.168.0.1 into the address bar to go directly to the homepage.
How do I activate my AXIS Key?

- If you already have a key but need a current copy resent, please contact axis.support@altec.com

- Once you’re on the AXIS homepage, look below the login prompt for the Register and Reset buttons. Click “Register” to go to the registration page.
- On the registration page, you will be prompted to enter your username (from the email we sent), a password (that you create), and the key (from the email we sent). It’s best to copy and paste the key from your email, as it’s very long. Once you click “Submit”, you should see that your key has been registered. If not, please repeat the steps above or contact us.
- After your key is registered, you can log in with your newly created password until your current key expires.
- A new key will be sent to you approximately one week prior to your current key’s expiration.
How do I update my AXIS Firmware?

- While connected to the internet on your device (phone, laptop, or tablet), open a browser and go to https://www.altec.com/axis/axis-firmware/ and click the yellow download button.
- Save the firmware file to your device and remember where you save it (downloads, desktop, etc).
- Connect your device to the AXIS Wi-Fi network. The network name and password are on a sticker on the back of your AXIS.
- Open an internet browser (preferably Google Chrome) and go to the AXIS homepage. If it doesn’t automatically go to the AXIS homepage, you can enter altec.com in the address bar. You should receive a redirect page that tells you that you are not connected to the internet and asks if you would like to go to the AXIS homepage. Click “Open AXIS Homepage”. If you’re using an iOS device, type the AXIS tool’s local IP address 192.168.0.1 into the address bar to go directly to the homepage.
- Once you’re on the AXIS homepage, click “Welcome Guest” in the upper right corner and then select “Update Firmware” from the drop-down menu. Note: If the only option shown is “Change Module” you will need to close the browser, disconnect the AXIS from power, wait 5 seconds, reconnect the AXIS to power, and start over from step #3.
- On the next screen, click on the box labeled “Choose File”, select the downloaded firmware file on your device, and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the upgrade. This process will take approximately two minutes.
- The tool will prompt you to restart your device to complete the upgrade. At this point, please wait 30 seconds before disconnecting and reconnecting to power. After 30 seconds, close your browser and disconnect power to the AXIS. Wait 5 seconds then reconnect the AXIS to power.
- Your AXIS tool will now automatically install the new firmware. This process will take approximately 2-3 minutes and you will notice the AXIS tool’s power light will be yellow for most of this time.
- Once you have a solid green power light and a blinking blue Wi-Fi light, your firmware install is complete and you can resume using your AXIS tool in its normal capacity.
